We're building a house. No, really. Yes, building it. With our own hands. Plus the hands of some lazy good-for-nothing general contractors, but I'm sure I'll be more angered by them at a later date.
Our house is gonna be cool. No, cooler than that. No, not quite as cool as the lofted bed or the library with the sunken floor that's one huge reading chair, but cool none-the-less.
Our house is going to be in Greenbackville, VA, in Accomack County. What can I say, we likes our privacy. That's the close up of the area. If you want to see where that is in relation to other states, check this out. Look for the red star in both images. That's our location (we're secretly commies. Shhhh).
Since we're constructing the house ourselves, we've also designed the house ourselves.
Now, we're not mathematicians.
We're not artists.
We're not architects.
We may not even be real.
We do control the horizontal.
We do control the vertical.
Anyway, we made a house we want to live in. Here's the layout of the 1st Floor. Here's a layout of the 2nd Floor. Don't worry about the crooked lines, everything's really square, daddy-o. They're also rather large images. Not file size, but Image size. If you've got a small monitor, you'll be scrolling, trust me.
(Have you ever tried to scan a 12"x18" piece of paper on a scanner whose bed is only 8.5" x 11"? That's what I thought. It was a total PITA. It had to be done in parts and then "magically" put together in a graphics program. So what if they weren't scanned straight?)
HVAC works and is finished. Plumbing is mostly done. There is still one nagging leak right at the water heater. Carpet is in. We've started moving some stuff into the house. Porch railing is done. Currently working on porch stairs (side of garage, side of house and back porch) and garage door, with many, many frequent bouts of foul language directed at the plumbing situation.
we've got to build! build! build! build! build!
Killer. Let us know and we'll see if we can look like slaveholders ... er ... fit you into our schedule.
If you just can't wait, and you've got to know right this second what our house looks like, as of December 02, 2002, well then look no further. Look! It's a new picture! We've done exterior work! In December! My fingers are frozen to the keyboard!
