Welcome! On this page, you will find a tremendous amount of information on the television show Homicide: Life on the Street, and the associated Internet Usenet News Group (try saying that three times fast), alt.tv.homicide. Most of the information contained here is taken from that loving little forum. In fact, that's probably where you heard about this amazing little corner of the World Wide Web.

And now, the winner is . . . Sorry. Always wanted to do that. What I meant to say is: And now, here is the information that you are so desperately looking for:

Bullet Image Is there a FAQ for the newsgroup?

Yep, there is. WARNING: It's a huge ASCII Text file. It hasn't been updated since 1995 or so, and the "official" maintainer has taken some time off the Net for personal reasons.

There is also another FAQ, written for Newbies on alt.tv.homicide. It's rather old, but the information is still valid. It has some pointers to proper Nettiquette for that newsgroup. Please take the time to read it. The maintainer of this FAQ is also off the Net currently. His wife is having some health issues, so he has taken a break from maintaining it.

Bullet Image When and how did Homicide begin?
Hole Image The show premiered in January of 1993 following the Super Bowl and aired 8 episodes on Wednesday at 9pm (EST). 4 episodes were ordered and aired starting in January 1994 on Thursday at 10pm (the first was the Robin Williams episode). HLOTS was then picked up for a full season (well, not quite, there were only 20 episodes ordered out of a standard 22 for full season shows) and put in its current 10pm (EST) Friday time period where it has aired for four seasons (information gathered from PeeBeeOne)

Bullet Image I got the skills man, I'm telling you. I can do it. I wanna be an extra on Homicide. Who do I talk to? Who do I kill? What animal do I sacrifice and to which Gods to I sacrifice them?
Hole Image It's not that simple. There are cetain times when you can and cannot be an extra. Generally the casting call is open from July to March, which is their shooting schedule. However, you can apply to be an extra. This is the information which I got from the last casting call:

Cast call for Homicide: People of all types are sought
to work as extras on the TV show Homicide: Life on
the Street. Send a non-returnable snapshot of your-
self, along with your name, address, age, and phone
number, to Homicide Casting, 1701 Thames St.,
Baltimore, MD 21231.

Keep in mind, that this is NOT Barry Levinson's Production company, Baltimore Pictures, but rather, simply the address for the Homicide Production Crew, which is affiliated with Baltimore Pictures (and rather closely at that!).
